DescriptionThis collection consists of the papers and reference material of the writer Barry Miles for his respective publications: Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now (1998), his authorised biography of The Beatles member Paul McCartney; The Rolling Stones: An Illustrated Discography (1982), and The Rolling Stones: A Visual Documentary (1994); and a proposed book on the life of Brigitte Bardot in collaboration with Simon Caulkin. AdminHistoryBarry Miles, born 1943, is an English author known for his writings on the British 1960s underground and counterculture scene. Among many other publications, he was the co-owner of Indica Gallery which helped start the independent newspaper International Times.
CustodialHistoryThis collection was assembled as a writer's reference library and archive collection to gather and organise information for Miles to write articles and books, the most significant of which was his authorised biography, Paul McCartney: Many Years from Now, first published in 1998. Miles' papers were purchased from Barry Miles by LJMU Special Collections & Archives in 2009 and 2011.
