| CustodialHistory | This collection was mostly amassed by Captain James Morgan over the course of his life and career at the Elder Dempster Lines company. It was generously donated to LJMU Special Collections & Archives by his widow Joyce Morgan according to James Morgan's wishes following the Homeward Bound: A Liverpool-West Africa Heritage Project which included oral histories from former employees of the Elder Dempster Lines company. The collection was arranged and catalogued by interns supervised by Professor Nick White at LJMU and a physical exhibition was hosted at Aldham Robarts Library.
A digital exhibition curated from material in the Elder Dempster Captain Morgan Archive Collection can be found on our Digital Exhibitions site at https://www.ljmuexhibitions.online/ This collection was received as part of the Elder Dempster Lines oral history project "Homeward Bound: A Liverpool-West Africa Heritage".
