| AdminHistory | Warrington District Area Health Authority has been responsible for Hospitals in Warrington, and later Halton. Although Winwick Hospital was managed by the Winwick and Newchurch Hospital Management Committee, this was amalgamated with Warrington in 1971. Warrington District came under Lancashire County authority until the NHS reforms of 1974 where it switched to Cheshire. In the reforms of 1982, the Area Health Authority was abolished and Warrington District Health Authority was established. In 1993 the Authority merged with Halton Health Authority to form the North Cheshire Health Authority. The current trust is the Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which was formed on 1 December 2008 from what was formerly known as North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The trust comprises Warrington Hospital, Halton General Hospital in Runcorn and Houghton Hall in Warrington. |
