| AdminHistory | The Liverpool Eastern District School of Nursing was formed in 1973 from the schools formerly at Broadgreen Hospital, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Newsham General Hospital, and Olive Mount Children's Hospital. After the Districts of Liverpool combined to form the single Liverpool Area District in 1978, the Liverpool Eastern District School of Nursing combined with the Central Southern District in 1979 to become the Liverpool Area School of Nursing. The district school system was a likely predecessor to the Liverpool Nurses Training School under the authority of the Royal Liverpool Hospital (previously the Liverpool Royal Infirmary) and Broadgreen Hospital until 1991 when Liverpool Polytechnic, which became Liverpool John Moores University in 1992, established the College of Nursing and Midwifery within the School of Heath Care, now the School of Nursing and Allied Health.
