This series features musical and performance works by Willy Russell, from the folk band the Kirkby Town Three in the 1960s to his solo album Hoovering the Moon and collaborative works Words on the Run and In Other Words in the 1990s and 2000s. Willy Russell composed the music and wrote the lyrics for Blood Brothers, and composed music and wrote songs for many of his other works, including Our Day Out, the films of Shirley Valentine and Dancin’ Thru The Dark, a film entitled Mr Love, for television series’ Connie and television play Terraces during the 1980s and 1990s. This series should be considered in conjunction with the music and lyrics of Blood Brothers and Dancin’ Thru The Dark. This series includes works which were predominantly relating to music and song writing, and also material relating to live performances, tours and gigs which featured Willy Russell.
