| Description | The series includes material which was obtained, retained or recorded by Willy Russell on VHS video tapes between 1974 and 2001. It also includes DVD recordings dated 2006. The VHS video tapes were digitised by Sian Williams in October and November 2012. The material includes works by Willy Russell for television, excerpts of films, television programmes, televised interviews with Willy Russell and members of the cast of productions and films, graduation and awards ceremonies, reviews and promotional pieces, and recordings of live performances and rehearsals. The series includes recordings relating to works: The Wrong Boy, Dancin’ Thru The Dark, Shirley Valentine, Educating Rita, Blood Brothers, The Daughters of Albion, Our Day Out, The Boy With The Transistor Radio, Politics & Terror, The Death of a Young Young Man, Lies, Connie, John, Paul, George, Ringo…and Bert, One Summer and Willy Russell as part of the Gang of Four artistic directors at the Liverpool Playhouse. In some cases, recordings contain pieces relating to more than one work. In these cases, the recording appears in the appropriate cataloguing series, but also shows the item number for the other pieces on the recording under the Item Number field. These entries are prefaced with a number which indicates the order in which they appear on the recording.
