Description	Material relating to the television production One Summer. The series includes manuscripts, but these do not feature any changes which may have taken place during filming, as Willy Russell was not involved in this stage of the process. However, it is possible to see that all of the manuscripts in this series feature a different conclusion to the one which appears in the version broadcast in 1983. This series also includes publicity & media material and correspondence from the 1980s. One Summer is a five part television series produced by Yorkshire Television and was filmed in 1981 and broadcast on Channel 4 in 1983. Initially entitled Ten Thousand Miles and intended to be a six part series, One Summer was produced by Keith Richardson, directed by Gordon Flemyng and starred David Morrissey, Spencer Leigh, Ian Hart and James Hazeldine. Due to differences of opinion relating to casting and filming, Willy Russell removed his name from the series credits, which were eventually broadcast as ‘by the author of Educating Rita’. This material was created by Willy Russell, or in the course of processes relating to the production of works by Willy Russell.
