Her legal background includes work for John Lewis Partnership 1960-1961, for Sweet & Maxwell Law Publishers 1961-1962, Winchester City Council and Taylor and Humbert 1967-1972, Slater Walker France S A 1972-1973, and Taylor and Humbert 1974-1984. In 1979, she stood for election at the European Parliament as the Conservative Party candidate for Liverpool, and won by 7,227 votes over the Labour candidate Terry Harrison despite the seat being considered a safe Labour seat. Hooper was defeated in the 1984 European Parliament for the Merseyside West constituency. |
