DescriptionThis collection mostly consists of a run of The Co-operative News 1871-1880; 1882-1913; 1915; 1919-1982; 1984-1994. It also includes some miscellaneous co-operative papers related to a variety of different co-operative groups around the UK, and additional books on the co-operative movement.
AdminHistoryThe Co-operative News is the world's oldest co-operative newspaper, first published in Manchester in 1871. Originally a weekly newspaper, the paper moved to being published fortnightly in 2006, and monthly in 2017. It is now known as Co-op News.
CustodialHistoryGenerously donated to LJMU Special Collections & Archives from the Co-operative Heritage Trust (CHT) Archives in 2010. This collection was deposited as spare duplications from the CHT's collection, previously including a much larger range of co-operative publications and records which were subsequently deaccessioned c.2014.
